What have you enjoyed most about your career?

“My career has allowed me to meet an incredible amount of talented people who I’ve learned so much from. I’ve had many opportunities to sit back and listen to those who’ve had long/successful careers. It’s made me a much better asset to the companies I’ve worked for.”

How did Carthage prepare you?

“The basic understanding of business principles I learned in undergrad gave me a good foundation to kickstart my career out of college. More importantly, the Master’s of Science in Business Design and Innovation Program taught me to see the business world from a different lens, which has proved to be invaluable. I’d highly recommend the program to anyone who’s interested in advancing their education.”

How has your liberal arts education benefitted you?

“Traveling to Honduras for a J-Term trip will always be an experience that has stuck with me. I believe everyone should travel abroad to understand how people in other countries live. For me, our trip was eye-opening and made me appreciate what we have here in the U.S. It gave a different perspective on life coming back home.”

Why did you choose Carthage?

“I felt the smaller school would be a good fit, and baseball was a major draw.”

What opportunities were made possible because of your Carthage experience?

“My initial foot in the door with Grainger, one of my first companies out of college, stemmed from an employee visit to a business class my junior year. I kept in contact with the gentleman who came in and eventually reached out.”

What Carthage professors played a part in your success and how?

“Professors Jennifer Madden and Greg Barron have been two influential professors in my life. Both of which I’ve stayed in contact with and they’ve become mentors I can lean on for career advice.”

Were you an award recipient? If so, tell us about the awards you received and what they meant to you.

“Multiple scholarships upon original admission to Carthage, and Cum Laude honors for undergraduate studies.”

What role have the values in Carthage's mission, "Seeking Truth, Building Strength, Inspiring Service — Together" played in your life?

“’Seeking Truth’ stands out the most for me. If you pride yourself on being an honest, hard-working person, things will turn out in a positive way.”
